FAQ

WHEN DO WE MEET?

I typically like to meet at your home prior to birth.  We can set up your home  for labor, make packing lists, go over details.

do you come to the doctor too?

I like to attend at least one appointment with you.  I will also attend ultrasounds if desired.

how long do you stay after birth?

My practice is to stay a couple of hours to guide the initial latch, make sure you are comfortable and doing alright.

DO YOU HAVE BACK-UP DOULAS IN CASE THERE ARE TWO Women IN LABOR at the same time?

Yes.  There are other doulas I work with to provide reliable and professional back-up.   I arrange a phone introduction.

DO YOU USE A CONTRACT?

Yes.  I use a contract which we will go through together.

WHAT FACILITIES DO YOU GO TO?

The three local Baptist hospitals, the three St. Vincent's locations, Flagler Hospital, Memorial Hospital. UF North,  Shands Hospital, Southeast Georgia Health System in St. Mary's, Ga., NAS Jax, and home births.

do you come to me for lactation support?

Yes.  In my experience it is easier for new moms to be in their own environment.

when are classes held?

Childbirth education and breastfeeding education classes are held on a TBA basis and will be announced on my Facebook doula page and this page.  Private classes can be scheduled together.

Kelly Googe-doula

Would you provide references?

Absolutely.  I would be happy to provide references at any time.

DO YOU HAVE ANY OTHER PROFESSIONAL CONTACTS THAT YOU RECOMMEND?

Yes.  I work closely with Hypnobirthing instructors , Bradley instructors, placenta encapsulators, photographers, fitness and yoga teachers, chiropractors, massage therapists, accupuncuture physicians, and postpartum doulas.

WHY THE NESTS AND EGGS?

There's a story about the lowly sparrow being the witness to the new baby's soul descending from heaven. Their song signals a new baby is about to be born.   I've always held that story dear and as a doula, I consider myself the fortunate witness to the miracle of birth.  I am the sparrow.  (although I promise I won't sing!)
